Junior Tennis Ladder 2008
For 2008 we are going to run a junior tennis ladder. Most of you will not have played in one before so I will explain the rules below. At the end of the summer two prizes will be awarded, one for whoever has won the ladder and a second prize for the person who has managed to play the most matches through the summer.
- There are no fixed times for the matches, times are to be arranged by the 2 players at a time convenient to them.
- Each match to be one set of tennis, if the two players are drawing at 6 games all, the 7th game will be the decider. If players want to play a longer or shorter match they must agree before the match what this format will be e.g. best of 5 games for a short match or best of 3 sets for a long match.
- Results are to be notified to me by the winner of the match either by text (07940804052) or phone (770905). I will then publish the results on the website and adjust positions in the ladder. The number of games played will be shown below too. From time to time I will also place an up to date copy in the clubhouse on the junior section notice board.
- If you beat a player above you in the ladder you will climb above them in the ladder, if you beat someone below you in the ladder your position does not change. The idea is that as a challenger you should be looking to try and challenge someone above you in the ladder to try and improve your position. At the end of the season the ladder should have the best players at the top.
- The ladder will start with everybody in alphabetical order, if you think you are unfairly near the bottom – get playing!
- Telephone numbers of players in the ladder cannot be published on the website so I will give everyone planning to play in the ladder a sheet with everyone’s numbers on, do not lose this please.
- If you want to join the ladder after the start of the competition just contact me.
- Matches can be played either on the tarmac or the grass courts, the challenger gets to choose. If adults are playing on the grass then please play on the tarmac courts.
- The ladder is for your enjoyment so make sure you have fun.
